in spite of之后只能加名词或名词性短语，不能接句子。比如 In spite of the weather,……这样。
(这里区别于despite，despite后可以加名词性从句如“Despite the fact that the public is getting increasingly discontented，但普通句也是不行的~)

就语法上的死规则，记住就好……
至于although~那就没啥*了

of 是介词后面接名词或者名词词组，不能接从句
举些例子： In spite of his disappointment, he managed a weak smile.
She is still very active, in spite of her advancing years.
其中 his disappointment, her advancing years 都是名词词组
所以选B
