《牛津词典》中对cupboard有个解释：a piece of furniture with doors and shelves used for storing dishes, food, clothes, etc.

因此cupboard可以是衣柜。

cupboard不光如字面指的是碗厨，它也有“柜橱”，甚至储藏室的意思。英语里好多单词是不能光看字面的。
