Pursuant to the existing provision of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, Article 237, it states that, "Whoever acts indecently against or insults a woman by violence, coercion or any other forcible means shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than five years or criminal detention." Article 12 of the "Draft Criminal Law Amendment (9)" will provide for an amendment to the object of indecent lewdness, the term "a woman" shall be superseded by "another person". This proposed amendment implies that "a man" could also be recognized as the object of indecent lewdness, and entitled to seek protection pursuant to this provision.
