Madame Defarge is quite a complex character who could only be described FATED.
Her family were badly treated by aristocrats, and she was the only one who survived. Naturally she became a cold-blooded and crazy revolutionary. She had no mercy on anyone, even little children. Revenge and revolt led to extermination in the end.
