Why not 和 Why didn't 两句有较大的区别。虽然他们都可以翻译成“你为什么不.......呢?”但Why not主要是表达一种建议，推荐对方去做not后面跟着的动作，而Why didn't则是有惋惜甚至责怪别人没有做某件事的意思了。

Why not 和 Why didn't 的区别主要表现在：
从时态上看，why not 一般现在时，表示现在还没发生的事情，还有改变的机会。而why didn't是过去时态，已成定局了。
从含义上看，why not 和 why don't you 是近义句，都表达提议做某事。而Why didn't只是为什么当初没有做某事。
