个人意见：why是我们常说的wh-词的其中之一。他的用法基本上与what,where相同。但是它是对事情的原因提出问题。譬如：Why do you usually go to school on foot? 你可以回答：My home is near school so I don't have to go to school by bus.
还有也可用于反问：Why don't you usually go to sleep before 10p.m.? 你可以回答：I have a lot of work to do every night.
回答的时候没必要用because.用的话不符合规范，当然你要是跟外国人说话的时候用because回答也没关系！
宾语从句：Could you tell me why you were late for school this morning? 这里表示...的原因。
定语从句: That is reason why he was late this afternoon.这就是他为什么今天下午迟到的原因。why来修饰reason.
