Today is Christmas Day. I think this Christmas Day is the most significant day in my life, because I spent it in the winter camping ground.
Now I want to give you a brief introction of how the foreign people spend their Christmas Day.
During the Christmas season friends get together and go from door to door singing Christmas songs. They do this not only for fun but also to bring the spirit of Christmas to everyone.
The Christmas-Eve is the most exciting night. Children put stockings at the end of their beds before they go to sleep. They are told to behave well, and the Santa will come ring the night. If they are naughty, they will get coal in their stockings.
Christmas Day always begins before breakfast. The children wake up very early to open the presents in their stockings. Everyone greets each other with a hug and says, “Merry Christmas.” They spent the day playing with the new toys and visiting their relatives and friends. They will also have a delicious dinner.
I really hope that everyday is Christmas Day.
Sustainable Development
Nowadays we can hear various voices around us. Some hold the view of a bright future with the development of hi-tech, but others think the opposite. Some people even doubt how long human beings will survive on the earth in the future.
Why they have such ideas about our future? Because our surroundings are being polluted. We are using up our natural resources, and at the same time, the enviroment becomes worse and worse.
But now, there is a new idea about our future. We call it sustainable development which means the question how we can continue developing world without damaging the enviroment.
There are too many pollutions around us, such as water pollution, air pollution, deforestation, desertification and starvation. All these pollutions are caused by man----by the desire for a modern way of life.
According to the idea of sustainable development, our main task is to help people understand that there exist serious problems and that there is still time to take action. We must do whatever we can to save the earth and give our children a bright future.
The Journey of Shenzhou Ⅵ
Two years after the launching of Shenzhou Ⅴ, China had once again sent up Shenzhou Ⅵ on Oct. 12th.
Chinese astronauts Fei Junlong and Nie Haisheng left Earth at 9:00a.m., and the whole process was beamed across China via live television.
The two astrnauts had travelled around the earth for as long as five days ring the Shenzhou Ⅵ spaceflight. They had performed a series of experiments to advance China’s understanding of human spaceflight.
The launching of Shenzhou Ⅵ is very significant, because Shenzhou Ⅵ had marked the first time that Chinese astronauts could participate in the experiments flying aboard their spacecraft, and China is the third nation which independently launched astronauts into space. I believe that China will make a greater progress in this field.
