When we talk about this topic,we think that we need different types of materials to meet our daily needs. Some of them are obtained from nature while others are prepared by man. The materials that we get from nature are called natural materials. Wood, silk, cotton, leather, rubber,coal, etc. are natural materials. However, some materials that we use are manmade.
Synthetic textiles like terylene and nylon, cement, glass, plastics, dyes,soap, detergents, fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides are some man-made materials which are commonly used.
As everybody knows，wood has many uses．It is a kind of very important building material．Wood can be made into desks，chairs，beds and many other things．Fine paper is made of wood，too．Only trees can provide us with enough wood．In the city, trees can provide us with oxygen and make the air around us fresh．In hot summer trees give us shade and make our surroundings more beautiful．What’s more，trees can stop soil from being washed away by heavy rains, and trees can absorb noise. Since trees are so important to us，we should plant more trees．At the same time，many effective measures should be taken to protect forests and prevent trees from being cut down．
However, the wasting water from the chemical factories and other sources such as paper plants, food processing factories etc. is harmful to all of us,so we have to purify the water to make it a drinkable water.
In summary, some materials are good while some are bad,so we should take good use of the good and change the bad for us to use to make our life more beautiful.

to recover useful materials from nature and to put them to various uses. Chemistry
has enabled us to synthesize new materials which have desired properties, thus,
making them even better than natural materials.
