Two friends were walking through the desert.During some point of the journey, they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, he wrote in the sand: Today my best friend slapped me in the face.
正在步行穿越沙漠的两位朋友。 途中某处，俩人发生了争执，其中一位一巴掌扇在另一位的脸上。被扇的那位很伤心，但他一言不发，在沙地上写道：“今天我最好的朋友扇了我一巴掌。”
They kept on walking, until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but his friend saved him. After he recovered from the fright, he wrote on a stone: Today my best friend saved my life.
他们继续前行，找到了一片绿洲，并决定在此洗个澡。挨掴而受到伤害的那一位因陷入泥潭而溺水了，好在他的朋友救了他。从惊魂中苏醒之后，他在石头上刻道：“今天我最好的朋友救了我。”
The friend, who had slapped and saved his best friend, asked him, “After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand, and now, you write on a stone, why?”
那位扇过他又救了他的朋友问道：“我伤害你时，你写在沙地上；而现在我救了你，你却刻在石头上，为什么？”
The other friend replied: “When someone hurts us, we should write it down in sand, where the winds of forgiveness can erase it away, but when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.”
他回答说：“当别人伤害我们时，我们只宜写在沙地上，宽恕的风会将它吹得了无痕迹；但当别人帮了我们时，我们应当将它刻在石头上，什么风也不能将其磨灭。”
Learn to write your hurts in sand , then you forget about the hatred. Learn to carve your gratitude in stone, then you know how to care about other people around you . This is what I have learned from this story. And I also believe that if everyone does like this, the world will become a better place.
学着将你的伤痛写在沙地上，这样你就会忘记仇恨；学着将你的感激刻在石头上，这样你就会懂得如何去关心你周围的人。
这个故事很适合演讲，我曾用过，故事里带着哲理，你可以考虑下。

Cooperation and competition.
In modern society cooperation is indispensable. As we proceed through life, we are faced with many types of situations. Each requires us to behave in different ways. We may be faced with a large project which, in order to be accomplished efficiently, demands the cooperation of each person. In this instance, we must be flexible, supportive, and be willing to compromise, for each person is only a small part of a much lager machine.
However, competition is also very important. Being competitive plays a role in life. The desire to succeed and do better than others inspires us to work harder. Without competition a sports meeting would never be exciting and successful, and we could never have champions. Without competition, we could not have had so many inventions and other achievements.
In my opinion, to succeed in life one must learn to be both cooperative and competitive. The most important thing to learn in life is to know when to be cooperative and when to be competitive.
