Is organic food healthier?
This is a question every health conscious indivial might raise, however, it's not just a simple yes or no question to answer.
To begin, we must first look into what constitute "organic foods". The definition given by Wiki says "Organic foods are foods that are proced using methods that do not involve modern artificial inputs such as pesticides and chemical fertilizers, do not contain genetically modified organisms, and are not processed using irradiation, instrial solvents, or chemical food additives. If livestock are involved, the livestock must be reared with regular access to pasture and without the routine use of antibiotics or growth hormones.
So much for that. Now how do ordinary people know the groceries they purchase from the market is truly organic or not? Currently, the European Union, the United States, Canada, Japan and many other countries require procers to obtain special certification in order to market food as "organic" . In order to get certified, the procers can expect frequent on-site testing concted by government inspectors. So the true question becomes, do we trust our bereaucrats enough to rely on their test results and the certification process?
If your answer to this is Yes, then for sure the so-called "organic food" is not only safer, but also much more nutritious for us to consume and therefore, a lot healthier.
Another issue is the way the foods are prepared. You may now have all the healthy ingredients to prepare a meal, but the condiments you use and the cooking method can easily spoil the nutritional content of those costly raw material. It's something that everyone should think about, as well.

Organic food is no healthier, but We Chinese have to depend on it!
. Organic food has no nutritional or health benefits over ordinary food, according to a major study published resently.
Researchers from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine said consumers were paying higher prices for organic food because of its perceived health benefits, creating a global organic market worth an estimated $48 billion in 2007.
A systematic review of 162 scientific papers published in the scientific literature over the last 50 years, however, found there was no significant difference.
"A small number of differences in nutrient content were found to exist between organically and conventionally proced foodstuffs, but these are unlikely to be of any public health relevance," said Alan Dangour, one of the report's authors.
"Our review indicates that there is currently no evidence to support the selection of organically over conventionally proced foods on the basis of nutritional superiority."
But things are somehow different within China. A series of food safety scandals emerged in China recently. In one of the latest cases, steamed buns in Shanghai were reported, last week, to have been dyed, sold past their expiration date, or laced with coloring additives to mislead consumers. so for most chinese consummers, choosing organic food maybe the better way to safeguard their health.
