1. a lot of为口语，后面可跟可数名词复数形式，也可跟抽象的或表示物质的名词，在否定句中习惯用not many或not much, a lot可以用作状语。
What will you do if you win a lot of money?如果你赢了许多钱，你将做些什么呢？
Its driver had a lot of trouble trying to stop it.开这辆车的人很难把它停下来.
I paint a lot of pictures.我画很多画。
2.a great deal of 后面只能跟抽象名词或物质名词，a great deal也可用作状语。
The race gave every one a great deal of pleasure.这次比赛给了大家许多乐趣。

3.plenty of后面可跟复数形式的名词或不可数名词，其含义是“需要多少有多少”或“比实际需要的还要多”，有时，有些象汉语“还多着呢”。
