英语定语从句问题

其实这种用法很正常，这是一个独立主格结构，对前面的There be结构起补充说明的作用。这两个部分可以改为一个并列句，即：
There are a large number of shopping malls in the U.S and an absolute majority of them locate in NY.

现在分词做伴随状语
但是不太看到和there be句型一起用
不是很习惯

1 “There are a large number of shopping malls in the U.S., an absolute majority of them locating in NY" -------你好。这是独立主格结构。不过，你的句子里面，locating必须换成located,否则就是错句，因为locate是及物动词，需要被动语态的概念。

2 "There are a large number of shopping malls in the U.S., an absolute majority of which locate in NY"--------造句也有错。应该是："There are a large number of shopping malls in the U.S., an absolute majority of which are located in NY"---------现在对了。这是定语从句。

3 下面是两个简单句：
There are a large number of shopping malls in the U.S AND / BUT an absolute majority of them are located in NY.-------AND / BUT 连接这两个简单句。
