to有表示给或到的意思，他付了些钱给（到）店主（处）。用for的话翻译起来也不合实际了。难不成楼主要为店主付钱吗？而pay for则表示“为……付钱”，如He paid some money for these books to the shopkeeper.他为这些书付了钱给老板。
