mean= (1) 吝啬的; stingy; (不表示自私): He's very mean (with his money); (2) 讨厌的: It is mean to tell lies; (3) (美国英语)惭愧的: a mean mood; (4) 恶毒: This man is the meanest man she'd ever met. (5) (出身)卑微: He rose from mean origins to high office.

selfish 只为自己考虑的，自私的;自利的 If you say that someone is selfish, you mean that he or she cares only about himself or herself, and not about other people.
