一、含义不同
1、realize 及物动词，指实现；认识到；了解；将某物卖得，把(证券等)变成现钱；变卖。
2、recognize 及物动词，指认出，识别；承认；接受，认可；赞赏。用作不及物动词，指确认，承认。
二、强调的重点不同
1、realize 强调认识到、了解情况等，指一开始不注意，经过长时间或一些事情后才逐步“意识到”。
There is now a growing realization that things cannot go on like this for much longer.
人们越来越认识到事情不可能再这样发展下去了。
2、 recognize强调认出、识别出。指原来见过，经过一段时间后，再见能“认出”。动词作谓语。
The receptionist recognized him at once.
那名接待员马上认出了他。
三、用法不同
1、realize 作及物动词，指实现等，后面接名词作宾语。如：
I knew the technique that I would have to create in order to realize that structure.
我了解为了使这种结构成为现实，我必须开发的技术。
2、recognize 可作及物动词，指承认、认可、赞赏等，后接名词作宾语或that从句。如：
Many doctors recognize homeopathy as a legitimate form of medicine.
许多医生承认顺势疗法是一种合理的医疗形式。
I recognize that I have been wrong.
我承认我错了。
