相信管仲与鲍叔牙的故事大家都耳熟能详。管仲辅佐齐桓公成为一代霸主，孔子曰：“微管仲，吾其披发左衽矣。”然而在管仲的身后，还有一位同样令人敬重的人物。他举荐管仲，终成霸业，因而名留青史。他便是鲍叔牙。
或许很多人无法理解鲍叔牙的千古流芳：齐桓公九合诸侯，一匡天下，其身侧运筹帷幄之人并非鲍叔牙;鲍叔牙甚至将自己的位置让与管仲，甘居其下。这样的“无甚功绩”的鲍叔牙，却能为史书大书特书。这是争强好胜的现代社会和时下持有浮躁心态的人们百思不得其解，甚至质疑的。
但我觉得，鲍叔牙之所以能够“成己”，正在于他能够“*”。
鲍叔牙的过人之处，首先在于他善于知人。知人之要务，在于放下成见。鲍叔牙与管仲曾经同为商贾、出生入死，每每被管仲占便宜，鲍叔牙总是一笑而过。后两人分侍二主，本应成王败寇，鲍叔牙却力排众议，举荐管仲。鲍叔牙能够剥开偏见、傲慢等缠绕在外界的茧丝，洞察出那位能力卓荦的管仲。
鲍叔牙的过人之处，更在于他能任人。雨果说：“世界上最宽阔的是海洋。比海洋更广阔的的是天空，比天空更广阔的是人的心灵。”公子小白践祚，鲍叔牙本可身居“一人之下，万人之上”的高位，但他审度自身，急流勇退，让贤甘居管仲之下。其胸襟之宽广，处事之谦卑，广为人所称颂。鲍叔牙的退让并非力不从心的自卑，并非沽名钓誉的姿态，并非求取庇荫的谄媚，而是为了大局着想，知己知彼的大智慧。
鲍叔牙的过人之处，在于他能够“*之美”。鲍叔牙成就了管仲，让管仲尽情施展抱负与才华，而不是“虽有千里马”却“骈死于枥中”;鲍叔牙更是成就了齐桓公，让他成就霸业，国泰民安;鲍叔牙更是拯救了水深火热之中的人民，齐桓公九合诸侯不以兵车，推广教化使黎民免于披发左衽，这是鲍叔牙为黎庶百姓所谋求的永福。
“我们飞的越高，在那些不能飞的人眼里就越渺小。”鲍叔牙的气度并非寻常人能比，在竞争如此激烈的现代社会中更是少能为人所理解。我们时常看到的是人们竞争时的咄咄*人、急功近利的浮躁，却少能欣赏到像鲍叔牙般“能者居之，我愿退而佐之”的“*之美”的气度。其实鲍叔牙式的“*之美”，又何尝不在成就自己呢?
君子*之美，是千帆阅尽后的从容;君子*之美，是朝日赤子所怀抱的坦诚;君子*之美，给予他人夏花之绚烂，留予自己同样值得讴歌的秋叶之静美。
