中文：很久以前，上虞古舜江西岸的凤凰山下小渔村有个姓曹的渔夫出江去捕鱼，小船被大浪冲走，渔夫的女儿曹娥跳进江去救父亲而死，孝心感动天，回了父亲的尸首，人们将端午节视作怀念孝女曹娥的日子。
英文：Long ago, a fisherman named Cao went fishing in the small fishing village of Fenghuangshan on the West Bank of the Shunjiang River in Shangyu. The boat was washed away by the waves. Cao E, the daughter of the fisherman, jumped into the river to save her father's death. Filial piety touched the sky and returned to her father's body. 中文：战国时，楚国大夫屈原因苦劝楚王无果，忧愤投江自尽。楚国百姓怀念这位为人清正的大夫，于是将糯米包成包投入江中，希望鱼群吃了米而不吃屈原尸身。后世延续为传统，渐渐演化为端午节。
